Lainna Fader is a newsroom leader and audience development expert with over a decade of experience driving subscription growth at major media companies and nonprofit organizations, with expertise in social media, newsletters, SEO, analytics, revenue strategy, and product management.

As head of newsletter growth and operations at Forbes, she oversees 20 editorial newsletters and multiple newsletter courses (over 1.5 million subscribers in total), collaborating with editorial, marketing, and revenue stakeholders to grow audience size, engagement, membership conversion, and revenue. Previously, as head of audience development at The New Yorker, she wrote headlines read by millions, developed models for understanding how stories drive subscription conversion, crafted newsletters with open rates up to three times higher than industry averages, created the beloved Instagram @newyorkercartoons, and launched the Twitter bot @newyorkerpoetry, among other fun projects. A native of Los Angeles, Lainna is a graduate of Occidental College, where she studied politics and Russian language and literature, and the Online News Association’s Women’s Leadership Accelerator.

Outside of work, she enjoys volunteering for dog rescues, photographing street art and graffiti, and hanging out with her chihuahua, Ollie (ref: Oliver Twist), and sapsali aka Korean sheep dog, Fry (ref: Futurama).
